Michael Vick- The Great Debate
I come from a little bit of a different viewpoint on Michael Vick. I despised him as a player. I thought he was cocky, over-rated, and an awful leader. It didn’t help that he played for the Falcons (a Panthers rival) either…
I remember the instance where he made an obscene gesture towards a fan:

I remember when he tried to carry weed into an airport. Did he honestly think that wouldn’t have been found? He has an army of thugs around him and none of them could carry his stash?
I’m tired of players like Michael Vick who have so much going for them but do everything to throw it all away. He was the first African American QB to be drafted at number 1 in the draft. He had stolen the hearts of Falcon’s Fans and dazzled the world with his abilities. He was an idiot.
But, he deserves another chance. He served his time. He went through our judicial system and was accordingly punished. He lost everything. His money, his houses, his playing career, and (most importantly) his reputation were all taken away from him. The man has, no doubt, been humbled.
I hated Michael Vick for the way he took for granted his god given abilities. But now, I can’t help not feeling sorry for the man.
What he did was horrible, but it opened people’s eyes. Vick will no doubt become the poster child of animal abuse. He will have to win back the public’s graces. He is going to have a hard couple of months, whether or not he gets granted reinstatement into the NFL.
Will I ever like or respect Mike Vick? No.
Does he deserve another chance? Absolutely.
