American Airlines- Worst Customer Service (Even past Time Warner)

Dear American Airlines,

Calling from the number 615-327-3255 I have been on hold for well over an hour now. Your customer service is so horrific that I'm in a state of shock. A simple phone call should never take your customer more than 5 minutes. 5 minutes of holding would be unacceptable for a business your size.

I want you know that this $750 flight I'm buying to get a colleague to a funeral has been the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. Airline companies are known to not care about their customers but you, American Airlines, take the cake.

You state on your website, "We are dedicated to making every flight you take with us something special." Let me tell you something. You have. You have made it especially bad. Every two minutes when you're computer says "thank you for holding" I desire nothing more than to break the phone in front of me in half. I hope you know by now that automated responses have never quelled a person's mood that you've put them in.

I don't want to be harsh, but another 15 minutes have gone by as I write this email. It must be a special type of customer service representative that you hire to make someone wait this long. If I was the CEO of your company... halt. Let me stop there. I would never be the CEO of your company because your company exudes incompetence.

American Airlines I hate that you've treated me poorly. I hate that I know other people go through this same experience every day.

Rajon Rondo and the #LooseBall Scavenger Hunt

Check out this article ESPN picked up today on Rajon Rondo. He is the latest NBA player to get a twitter account. However, unlike others, Rondo is using his account (@RajonRondo) to give back to the fans.

Fans are encouraged to follow Rondo in order to participate in a search throughout Boston. His Facebook page, twitter account, and newly made Foursquare account all give the follower scheduled hints as to where he/she might find prizes.

Prizes include finals tickets, 9 autographed basketballs, and 9 autographed t-shirts. The people who find the locations first will get the best prizes. As more people show up Red Bull (one of Rondo’s sponsors) will be handing out more prizes to those who made the effort.

ESPN declared this campaign,”the first of a hip and innovative way to market a hip and innovative player.”

Congrats to Galarraga for the first 29 out Perfect Game in History

I have not blogged in months but something so tragic, so disgusting, and so ridiculous happened tonight in sports that I must write.

Jim Joyce, the first base umpire calling the Detroit Tigers game blew a Perfect Game on the 28th batter. My sincerest prayers go out to pitcher Armando Galarraga and his family. This game will no doubt go down as the most historic 28 out game in the history of baseball.

This will no doubt bring the critics to the streets. Baseball’s no replay policy took a huge blow with this one. How can you argue that such a monumental play should not be reviewed? All they need is one ump up in the press boxes changing blown calls that might effect the outcome of the game.

Michael Vick- The Great Debate

I come from a little bit of a different viewpoint on Michael Vick. I despised him as a player. I thought he was cocky, over-rated, and an awful leader. It didn’t help that he played for the Falcons (a Panthers rival) either…

I remember the instance where he made an obscene gesture towards a fan:

I remember when he tried to carry weed into an airport. Did he honestly think that wouldn’t have been found? He has an army of thugs around him and none of them could carry his stash?

I’m tired of players like Michael Vick who have so much going for them but do everything to throw it all away. He was the first African American QB to be drafted at number 1 in the draft. He had stolen the hearts of Falcon’s Fans and dazzled the world with his abilities. He was an idiot.

But, he deserves another chance. He served his time. He went through our judicial system and was accordingly punished. He lost everything. His money, his houses, his playing career, and (most importantly) his reputation were all taken away from him. The man has, no doubt, been humbled.

I hated Michael Vick for the way he took for granted his god given abilities. But now, I can’t help not feeling sorry for the man.

What he did was horrible, but it opened people’s eyes. Vick will no doubt become the poster child of animal abuse. He will have to win back the public’s graces. He is going to have a hard couple of months, whether or not he gets granted reinstatement into the NFL.

Will I ever like or respect Mike Vick? No.

Does he deserve another chance? Absolutely.

A Panthers Fan’s Feelings

Julius Peppers has hurt my faith in professional athletes.

The Freak

He said he wanted to leave.

No one would take him.

He ‘changed’ his mind.

Told the fans he had good talks with the owners and was thinking about a long term deal.

Signed his ridiculous 1 year tender…

Didn’t sign a long term deal.

So: As fans I understand that we invest too much interest into these athletes. But, I think it’s not ridiculous to believe that the only motivation these players have is money. If Peppers wanted to play for the Panthers, he would have signed the long term deal. He didn’t because he wants more money. We are paying him to be a temp. He wants out and he’ll post big numbers this year so he can score a big contract from someone else.

His actions are not fair to the fans. We have embraced him. He ignores the media and does not take criticism. He takes plays off and we have forgiven him. But this… This is unforgivable. My faith in Julius is gone.
